[style=float:left;width:233px;height:315px;] Brynn slipped under the nice white fence and into the woods. The leaves crunched under her Toms covered feet. She listened carefully for the sound of the creek. It was a noisy creek, with its mini waterfall and all. She had thrown on a cute navy and white striped bikini with red bows on the sides of the bottoms and around her neck and back. She threw over a pair of khaki pants and a cropped white see-through shirt. As Brynn came to the creek, she smiled. No one else came here. It was her special place for when she wanted or needed to get away. She stripped off her pants and her shirt and tossed her Toms aside, then pushed them into her bag. She yanked out the towel and laid it out. She scanned the creek with her crystal blue eyes. It was wide- very wide actually - and there was a little chunk of land in the middle. Perfect for a fort. Old memories flooded her mind, making a smile stretch across her face. Brynn looked around. There were a couple small fallen trees. It seemed easy enough to make a fort. She just needed someone with knowledge of building things. Like, a guy. She'd never been good with guys. It couldn't possibly go right for her. Brynn sighed, poking her big toe into the rushing water. A chill shot up her spine and through her body, as she pulled her foot out in a rush. Then she heard a rustling behind her. She turned slowly. No one, no thing, no nothing. Had she gone mad? Wait. It was there again. There wasn't any wind. She looked in the trees. There it was. It was way too big to be a squirrel. And how in the world would a deer get up there? It had to be a person. " Hey you! Up in the tree! Reveal yourself!" Brynn shouted at the person, shielding her eyes from the sun. Louie inhaled sharply as his injured finger gently clipped the bark of a tree, and he looked down at his hand, stopping. He grimaced, looking at his nail. It was still split, but it was easy to see it had been healing. But man, did it hurt when it was touched. He had taken the bandages off the previous night and that was obviously a bad idea, seeing how bad he was at paying attention to it. He glanced back at his best friend, and continues walking, looking forward again. "We're almost there, just give me a minute to figure it out..." He said. He was talking about a tree he had recently found that was really fun to climb. He wanted to show it to Callie, just because he was childish enough to want to show his best friend a tree.
He motioned her over when he found his tree, and grinned back at Callie, climbing the tree easily. He was at the third branch in a matter of seconds, and he continued to go higher, up to the leafy branches. He leaned back against the trunk and propped his legs up out on the branch, reaching his hand down in case she needed help getting up. And when she was at about the same height he was, he proceeded to ramble about his day. "Rumble was being so annoying today! He wouldn't stop bucking and rearing when I was trying to put on his tack. He almost kicked me twice!" He explained, and he opened his mouth to say more, but he was quickly hushed by himself when he saw something.
It was a girl, down at the creek below. She was in a bikini and had lay out a towel, and seemed to be too scared to go into the water. He stayed perfectly still, almost like a statue, but when his hand slipped he scrambled to catch himself, creating a rather loud rustling where he was sitting.
"Hey you! Up in the tree! Reveal yourself!"
Louie flinched at the call, and looked down, slowly slipping to the ground. He didn't motion for Callie to come down after him; he didn't want her to get hurt if the stranger was angry enough to throw a punch. He pressed his lips into a line, an apologetic look on his innocent face.
"Sorry," He said in a quiet, almost frightened voice. |

the blonde freshman clambered up the tree at a slower rate than louie, not that she would ever admit that he was better than her at something. it was kinda a given, anyways. she grabbed louie's hand, careful not to touch his split nail and pulled herself up into a branch across from him. it was a nice tree. it had plenty of lower branches like the one in the courtyard, which helped callie climb it. louie could climb it even if there were no branches, but callie needed the think lower ones that this one offered. the freshman laughed at louie's synopsis of his day. she was about to throw in that she hadn't even ridden today, and didn't plan to, when he went quiet. callie heard the rustles of leaves and followed the irish kid's glance.
and scrunched her nose when she saw some prep in a bikini on the creek. put on some clothes, for god's sake. of course, no one could know that this girl was a prep by simply looking at her, but callie was rather judgmental toward the girls at sunset valley. she stereotyped all of them into this perfect blonde barbie that had tons of money, tons of boys, and loved everything mushy, and cheesy and romantic. it made callie sick. she'd rather make a game out of throwing rocks at people from the roof than do half the things she thought these girls did.
caroline porter just didn't understand girls. if she got into a fight, she would throw a punch and everything would be settled. she won. but that wasn't how it worked. girls used rumors, and secrets, and gossip to win. it wasn't fair. it would never be fair.
callie rolled her eyes when louie's hand slipped and focused immediately in on the girl, who of course, noticed. she came down after louie, but instead of sliding all the way down, she went to the next lowest branch and jumped. all the impact was taken with her ankles, and she forced out a wince.
why was louie acting shy? louie wasn't shy. not around her, at least. or was he scared? he couldn't be scared of a fourteen year old girl in a swimsuit. you couldn't take those sort of girls seriously.
she rolled her eyes, yet again, after her best friend muttered a 'sorry'. muttering meant weakness. you stand tall and proud and say what you want to say, and mean it. louie, why are you apologizing?" they hang done anything wrong. maybe startled her a bit, but she could get over that.
"why are you here?" it was more of a statement than a question. more of a 'why did you interrupt my adventure with my best friend' sort of statement.

[style=float:left;width:233px;height:315px;] The leaves rustled as he moved into a better position to get out. Brynn looked at the kid as he jumped out of the tree. " I'm not going to hurt you..." She said, laughing. " No need to be afraid! I couldn't hurt you if I tried, anyways." She threw on her shorts and top, and looked at him. A girl had somehow materialized behind him or something. " Soo." She murmured, her hand sliding to the back of her neck. She looked at the ground, glad she had just redone her toenails. They looked like crap earlier. Brynn looked back up. The boy was seriously cute. Was she in love? Brynn had only been in a relationship once, and the guy had been a complete jerk. She was just afraid of getting hurt again. Ugh, why would he even date her? She wasn't pretty, especially compared to the girl behind him. " So, are you two dating, or what?" She blurted, and as soon as it came out, Brynn slapped her hand over her mouth. " I'm sorry, it just kinda came out!" Brynn quickly apologized. " But, are you?" -- Merp, sorry. This is such a fail! 191 words;3[/style]

Louie's small look of apology was replaced with a lopsided grin, and he looked back at his friend. He said nothing, and turned back to the stranger. "I know. But still, I don't judge books by their covers, ya'know? You could've been a serial killer for all I know!" He said with a small, amused laugh. The silence wasn't awkward at all for him, but when she spoke again, her question left him a little puzzled.
After a second or two of a confused look, he burst out into an adorable laughing fit, his head dropping back. He didn't know why he found the question hilarious, but he just did. Sure, he wanted to say yes, but at the moment he was in denial that he liked his best friend that way and he thought he would get over it. Obviously that plan wasn't taking action any time soon, because he still caught himself thinking about her for most of the day.
His laughing fit died down after about 4 or 5 seconds, and he shook his head slowly. "Callie and I, dating? No way. But, ya see, we're best friends." He grinned and looked back at Callie, as if the question were a joke. He could tell she was going to be a bit upset because of the sudden awkward query, just because she was like that and he knew her well enough to predict her reactions. Turning back to the stranger, he presses his lips into a line to stifle an amused laugh. "It's fine, I would think the same thing if I saw a boy and girl alone in the woods together. In a tree, for that matter." He replied, rolling back and forth on his heels.
He was being particularly friendly to this girl, and he realized he hadn't introduced himself just yet. And so he decided he would. With a warm smile, he tilted his head and spoke again. "By the way-- I'm Louie. I'm from Ireland, if that wasn't obvious." |
