hazel trotted the black gelding out towards the cross country course. he was starting to misbehave, and being annoying. hazel gave him a sharp tap with the whip behind the leg, and then carried on. she trotted him around a few of the jumps on the course, before settling her horse down, ready to start the warm - ups.

She'd been up for hours, much too excited to sleep. For nearly a week Elizabeth had been at the school but for the entirety of that time Tucker had been missing. The gelding's cross country trip had taken nearly the whole time, since he had had to go through several people to get to California. Late last night the pair had been reunited, though it had been to late to ride. A week without riding was far too long and Ellie had been waiting all night to fix that.
With a broad smile on her face she left her books splayed open on her bed and quickly changed into her riding clothes. Sorting through her already messy pile of clothes she tugged on a tan pair of jodhpurs, followed quickly by her black riding boots and half chaps. Standing she pulled a plain blue shirt on, tied her hair back in a messy pony tail and darted out of her dorm room. Half running Ellie quickly found her way to the borders barn, where Tuck was waiting. Slowing her pace enough so that she wouldn't scare the horses she entered the tack room and grabbed her saddle. It was an old, well-worn hand-me-down, but it had been taken care of. Dashing back to Tucker's stall she groomed him for a few quick minutes before tossing the colorful polka dotted saddle pad onto his back. The saddle followed quickly and by the time she had finished buckling the girth and breast-collar in place the gelding was fidgeting.
"Come on Tuck, settle down and we'll be running the fences in no time." Shaking her head she slipped the simple bit into his mouth and buckled the bridle. When she slid the stall door open the gelding practically barreled her over to get out of the stall. Reacting to his antics as Roxie had taught her Ellie reached over and smacked his wide chest, hard enough to get her point across but not nearly hard enough to hurt him. With a snort the gelding backed off, and looked down at his little rider. "I warned you, now mind your manners before you really get it." |
Once the gelding lowered his head, Ellie stroked his muzzle and lead him towards the cross country course. Suprised to find someone else on the course Ellie paused to watch the blonde girl, before buckling on her helmet and turning to Tucker. It was then that she noticed one problem, there wasn't a mounting block around. Tucker stood nearly six inches taller than her, so getting into the saddle without a hand up or a mounting block was complicated. With a shrug she steadied the gelding before half-jumping half-climbing into the saddle. Straightening she turned to the girl, hoping that she hadn't payed much attention to her stunt. "Do you mind if we join you?" Ellie waited for the girl's response, keeping Tuck reined in even as the gelding pawed at the ground, more than ready to be off.[/div] Feel the pull, call your name I'm alone once again

TEMPLATE BY KHRISTIAN @ CAUTION 2.0, LYRICS BY Carly Rae Jepsen

center] You're the part of me that makes me better wherever I go [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image: url(http://i45.tinypic.com/11spic7.jpg); width: 388px; padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 20px;]The morning air was nice and crisp as Josephine made her trek toward the cross country course. She had been here not even a week, but hadn't yet made the journey to check out the course. Josephine owned a horse that could compete at the four star eventing level, but she herself didn't quite feel comfortable riding or competing at that level. She knew, however, that she couldn't let her fear of those unforgiving jumps stop her from enjoying what she loved most. There was a slight irony, she supposed, that she held this fear of some cross country courses. Josephine, a lass born in the saddle, had been riding her entire life and holds no fear over jumping six foot jumps within a stadium arena.
Shaking off her thoughts she began to walk the course, noting it's heights, distances, and different fences. Out of all of the fences she noted, the one she disliked the most was a downward bank. She had been involved in an accident with one when she was eleven, but even now she didn't care for them. All of the fences had various components so that the riders could work on multiple riding levels. Josephine walked back towards the downward bank to count strides between levels and other difficulties when she noticed that she wasn't the only one who had decided to make their way down to the course. First she spotted someone on a black gelding who warmed up over a couple fences before Josephine spotted another rider coming up.
Well, this was a dilemma. Josephine hoped that no one would notice her as she stayed by the downward bank, watching as the two interacted with one another. She could see that the newest arrival was anxious and ready to get moving. She hoped once again that no one would notice her as she made her way slowly and quietly back to the barn. She would wait a couple hours before she would bring Mozart out to work him, she didn't really want to be around anyone while she worked the large chestnut gelding. She didn't want to have to speak with anyone about anything, in fact she would prefer that she hadn't seen the two riders. She was nearing the riders when the mighty urge to sneeze came upon her. She attempted to keep it suppressed, trying to hold it back until she was out of sight. Yet, that plan, as the majority of plans go, unraveled at the most inconvenient time plausible. A rather loud sneeze erupted from Josephine; one which she hoped that the two riders didn't actually hear.
